Catarino Contracting is one person: Kevin Catarino. Born and based in Brantford, Ontario.

The trade goes back a generation. My dad designed and built three homes from the ground up before I was old enough to swing a hammer, and he worked at Dufferin Construction before me. I grew up on his jobsites, his flips, his cottage, his current house — learning residential renovation by doing it with him.

My own start was at  a cabinet-making shop in Brantford, for two years. After that, I followed my dad to Dufferin and spent the next 13 years there as a cement finisher and form-setter. Curbs, sidewalks, slip-formed barrier walls, and other infrastructure work across southern Ontario. The kind of job where a quarter-inch off doesn’t fly and the inspector is on you.

All through the Dufferin years, residential renovation never stopped. Weekends and winter layoffs were spent on my own projects.

The biggest of those: I took my entire saved house down payment and bought a condemned waterfront property nobody else would touch. The seawall had failed, the cottage was hanging off the cliff on steel beams, even though it had already been moved towards the road. Two winters and every weekend later, I had it taken down to bones and brought back. I learned every part of building a house on that project — because every part needed doing, and waterfront laws would not allow a new build.

When I sold the cottage, i moved into my first home.  In 2023, after starting a family, I went solo as Catarino Contracting — full-time residential renovation in Brantford. Bathrooms, basements, tiling, flooring, full home renos, and concrete flatwork.

How I work:

One job at a time, start to finish.  Licensed plumbing and electrical handled by trusted trades, no markup on their rates. The quote I give is the quote you pay. If something behind a wall genuinely changes the scope, you see it before any extra work happens.

What I won’t take on:

Large additions. Multi-story decks. Foundation walls or crack injection. Driveways, full basement floor pours, or retaining walls.  Anything I can’t deliver at the level I’d want in my own house gets honestly declined.
